Community support for adults ID/DD/ASD

The Full Story
Welcome!
I’m Rebecca Mallory, and my husband; Joshua Mallory, have the privilege of leading, "A Community Safe Haven". A special needs non-profit day support dedicated to empowering individuals and supporting them in the communities they live in. I have over 15 years of experience in the field of special education, I truly believe in the positive impact of continued life skills and social skills training after high school, in the lives of those with developmental and intellectual disabilities. My passion for this work comes not only from my professional journey but also from my personal and family experiences.
My Background
My roots start here in Leesburg, Virginia. Growing up in Loudoun County, I have always felt a strong connection to this vibrant community. My family has been a part of the area for generations, and it’s here that I developed my lifelong dedication to supporting those who need it most.
I also come from a family with a history of mental illnesses and disabilities, those experiences have shaped my understanding of the complexities of mental health, ID/DD/ASD, and community connections. These challenges have given me a unique perspective, allowing me to approach my work with empathy, compassion, and a deep appreciation for the importance of family support. I know firsthand the struggles families face when navigating the complexities of special needs and mental health care, and I’m committed to being a source of guidance and understanding for those who rely on our services.
My Professional Journey
For the past 15 years, I’ve had the privilege of working in the field of special education, where I’ve developed a broad range of skills. I’ve worked with individuals of all ages and backgrounds, and every day has been an opportunity to learn, grow, and be inspired by the strength and resilience of the people we serve.
Throughout my career, I’ve seen the transformative power of personalized care, thoughtful programming, and strong community connections. At Safe Haven, we are not just providing a service, we are creating a supportive environment where individuals can thrive, families can find resources and comfort, and our community as a whole can embrace inclusivity and understanding.
My Commitment
As a leader, I am committed to maintaining the highest standards of care and creating a program that is both welcoming and effective. My goal is to empower individuals to reach their fullest potential while providing families with the support they need. We believe in fostering independence, dignity, and respect for each individual who walks through our doors.
I am proud to be part of a team that shares this vision, and together, we are committed to making a lasting difference in the lives of those we serve. Our program is not just a place, it’s a community, one where every person is seen, heard, and valued.
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me and the work we do at Safe Haven. I am excited to continue this journey and look forward to the opportunity to serve you and your loved ones.
Warmly,
Rebecca Mallory
